Longtime N.J. Jeweler Dies

William Braunschweiger Sr., a longtime Morristown, N.J.,
jeweler, died on Aug. 3. He was 82.

His family worked in clock and watch repair in Germany
before immigrating to the U.S. in the early 1900s. Braunschweiger was born in
Hillside, N.J. His father, Eugen, and his uncle, Robert, opened Braunschweiger Jewelers under the
name Market Watch Repair in 1931.

Braunschweiger and his brother Herb helped his father at the
store after school as a young child. He joined the business full time after
graduating high school.

When his father retired, Braunschweiger and the
fourth generation took over the business. The store expanded to two locations
and became known for expert repair services. Estate jewelry was his passion and
the reason Braunschweiger Jewelers carries it at the store.

Braunschweiger actively worked with the jewelry store until
2005.

He is survived by his wife, three children, three
step-children, seven grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, his brother, his
sister-in-law, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
