JSA Honors Mort Weisenfeld, Richard Kern at Luncheon

Mort Weisenfeld and Richard M. Kern were honored with Industry Service Awards at the Jewelers’ Security Alliance’s annual luncheon on Jan. 12.

Weisenfeld, former head of A. Cohen & Sons, was honored for his 27-year tenure as a JSA director, including two years as board chair.

Kern, the owner of Churchill’s Jewelers in Santa Barbara, Calif., was honored for his 30-year stint as a member of the JSA board. He also served as a head of the JSA Finance Committee.

JSA president John Kennedy said this year marks the group’s 130th anniversary.

“We are one of the earliest trade associations in the United States,” he said. “JSA has survived two wars, depressions, calamities of all kinds. What could be more basic than your protection, your personal security?”
