JCK publications win two awards

Jewelers’ Circular Keystone magazine, the leading business magazine of the retail jewelry industry, won Folio magazine’s prestigious 2005 Gold “Eddie” Award as the best business-to-business publication in the retail category. JCKTrends also won a silver Ozzie Award for design, in the category of Best Use of Photography. The Trends article honored was “Garden of Green,” in the Spring 2005 issue.

The Eddies and Ozzies were presented Tuesday night during a gala awards dinner at the New York Hilton. Folio magazine, the publication of record for the magazine industry, hosted of the event and the awards.

Folio’s Eddie Awards are open to all magazines—consumer, b-to-b, associations, and online. Magazines are evaluated by how well they fulfill their own mission statement in serving their readers, rather than against the competition.

This year there were over 1,600 submissions, which were narrowed down to 227 finalists in 76 categories, representing all areas of magazine publishing.

Entrants were judged on editorial excellence–the quality of their content and how that and the overall design and production supports their mission of informing and engaging its readers. The judges are a “Who’s Who” of the industry’s leading editors, publishers, and consultants.

JCK has put its readers first for135 years and I’m proud to say the tradition continues today,” said Hedda Schupak, JCK editor-in-chief. “The new look of all the JCK publications serves to make our history of editorial excellence serve the needs of information-hungry readers in an increasingly visual world. I’m extremely proud of my whole editorial team. The award really belongs to them for carrying on the JCK tradition of excellence.”
