GSI Founder Steps Down From Kimberley Process Group

Mark Gershburg hopes for a younger replacement

Gemological Science International founder and CEO Mark Gershburg has decided to step down from the board of the United States Kimberley Process Authority (USKPA).

He is one of three directors for the trade association, which works to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the supply stream in the United States.

“It was a difficult decision to make, but the growth of GSI left me very little time for other activities,” Gershburg said in a statement. “I don’t want to be part of any organization if I can’t dedicate my time to it. I hope that my departure from the USKPA will be an opportunity for it to bring in [a member of the] younger generation as my replacement.”
