Gold continued its stratospheric rise on Aug. 3, with its
spot price hitting $1,672 an ounce—the second day in a row it has set a
record.
At press time, the metal was trading at $1,668 an ounce.
The price also hit a record on Aug. 2, crossing the $1,640-an-ounce barrier for the first time.
It was only July 18, less than a month ago, that gold first
crossed the $1,600 mark.
