Get to Know Sylvie Levine of the Sylvie Collection

Though Ian and Sylvie Levine of the Sylvie Collection in Plano, Texas, only launched the Sylvie Collection in 2007, they have already amassed an enviable 200 retail accounts nationwide. In an email interview, Sylvie Levine chalks up the success to an emphasis on bridal jewelry—a large part of her offerings—and to offering lots of options. “Center stones of any size or shape can be used in my rings and are highlighted by unique mountings capable of enhancing even smaller sizes,” explains Levine. “Each piece within the collection is customizable, allowing it to become a personal symbol of her passion.”

A third-generation member of the diamond business, Levine was born and raised in Antwerp, and has been designing jewelry for 20 years. “I developed an infectious passion for both the product and service aspects of the business at a young age, which was fostered by working in the industry for a number of years in Antwerp,” she says.

In her bridal collection, she “celebrates femininity, timeless romance, and affordable luxury,” and organizes styles “in categories that represents a specific facet of love, such as tenderness, passion, eternity, and union.” A team of designers bring her primarily cast line to life, and Levine was recently named a finalist in the 2012 JCK Jewelers’ Choice Awards.

“The appeal of the Sylvie Collection is the flexibility of the line and the attention to (often hidden) details in every single ring,” she explains.

Check out the Sylvie Collection at the LUXURY show next week, booth LUX101.

JCK: What materials do you work with and why?

Sylvie Levine: Being a bridal line we work with diamonds of all shapes and sizes as well as some colored gemstones when requested. We work in 14k and 18k white, yellow, and rose gold and platinum.

JCK: Tell us about your signature style.

SL: I always want to highlight the center stone of an engagement ring so many pieces of my jewelry have clean lines, and are light on metal with a very feminine look. My most notable and signature engagement rings include milgrain as well as hidden details on the side profile of rings, like diamonds and criss-cross motifs on side profiles. I want the wearer to look at her ring from every angle and love it!

JCK: Where is the jewelry made?

SL: The jewelry is made in Asia, under the highest possible manufacturing standards.

JCK: How many accounts do you currently have?

SL: 200 in the U.S. and none abroad

JCK: What jewelry shows do you exhibit in?

SL: LUXURY at JCK Las Vegas and the SMART Show in Chicago

JCK: What is your starting retail price for each metal you work in?

SL: $700 keystone in 14k gold, $905 keystone in 18k gold, and $1,500 keystone in platinum
