Entries Being Accepted for the 2011 Designer Jewelry Competition

A new contest shines a spotlight on artists in the contemporary jewelry design business.

Entries are now being accepted for the first annual 2011
Designer Jewelry Competition
, sponsored by the Designer Jewelry Showcase, a
trade industry website published by Serbin Communications Inc., a Santa
Barbara, Calif.–based publisher targeting artists and craftspeople.

Jewelry designed and created between
January 1, 2010, and June 30, 2011, is eligible for entry. Categories are as
follows:

Gold/Platinum to $600 retail

Gold/Platinum $600–$3,000 retail

Gold/Platinum $3,000 and up retail

Silver to $500 retail

Silver $500–$1,500 retail

Silver $1,500 and up retail

Mixed Media to $400 retail

Mixed Media $400 and up retail

All pieces may include gemstones, and traditional styles—bracelets,
rings, necklaces, earrings, and pendants—as well as nontraditional pieces like
belt buckles and watches are suitable for submission. More than $6,000 in cash
prizes will be awarded, and winners will be featured in the 2012 annual print
edition of the Designer Jewelry Showcase and on the home page of DesignerJewelryShowcase.com.
Three winners will be selected from each price point category, for a total of 24
awards.

Judges include Alan Revere, founder of the Revere Academy
and Contemporary Design Group, as well as president of the American Jewelry Design
Council, Todd Reed, and Merle White, editor in chief of Lapidary Journal
Jewelry Artist
.

The early entry deadline is July 20, 2011, and a fee of $35
per entry is applicable; the final entry deadline is August 22, 2011, and a fee
of $45 applies.
