Disco, Gold, and Sexy Swimwear in the City

Jewelry and beach towels don’t usually share event space, but last week’s
Swimsational Disco Soiree was a unique exception. Patricia Field—the
flame-haired costume designer for Sex and the City—unveiled the Patricia
Field/House of Field Eyewear, Swimwear, and Beach Towel Collection
in a swanky
Manhattan penthouse on Fifth Avenue. The event conveniently coincided with the
Memorial Day weekend release of Sex and the City 2, the TV series/feature film
franchise that propelled Fields to her own brand of stardom for her
trend-setting costume designs.

Fun, fun, fun!

A live fashion show and mannequin display—plus complimentary
cocktails!—attracted hundreds of high-style and eccentric New Yorkers. Did
anyone else see the naked partygoer? But of particular interest to this
attendee was the Ippolita gold jewelry adorning the (real and plastic) models.
(The Ippolita baubles—rich 18k yellow gold stacking bangles, charm necklaces,
evil eye bracelets, and hoops, hoops, and more hoops—were provided by one of
the event’s sponsor, the World Gold Council.) Turquoise, aquamarine, resin,
diamond, and ivory accents played a supporting role in many of the designs.

Not the only flame-haired gal at the party: Patricia Field and Shaye Strager, Studio PR. (Congrats, Shaye!)

A
serendipitous bonus: The swimwear was so skimpy that the jewelry doubled as
glam accessories and partial beach cover-ups!
