Designer to Stock: Lika Behar

Jewelry designer Lika Behar is one of those individuals that have the power to create things that look as if they come jam-packed with history, even straight off the jeweler’s bench. A new piece from the designer isn’t really new; it’s like, it has stories to tell or something. The fact that Behar hails from Istanbul—and incorporates that Mediterranean lineage in her design—helps to clarify things. It’s that use of 24k gold and oxidized silver, handmade technique, and ancient inspiration that give her pieces life. And if you can believe it, they just keep getting better. It’s like watching the evolution of a great artist with each new collection released by Behar, and these latest designs are, in my opinion, her best yet. Because these jewels have history baked in, thanks to a masterful hand and dedication to detail, there’s no reason why they shouldn’t be considered instant classics—passing fads need not apply. Here is some of the latest from Lika Behar.
