The Diamond Empowerment Fund, the industry charity that
“gives back” to Africa, has named Nancy Orem Lyman as its new executive director
and vice president.
Lyman previously served as the director of consumer confidence
for De Beers Group Marketing while working at JWT Advertising. She has also
worked with the United Nations on various programs toward attaining the UN
Millennium Development Goals.
Lyman replaces Ellen
Haddigan, who left the position in January.
Lyman “brings to this important job the experience of the
industry together with a firm commitment to the empowerment of people in Africa
where diamonds are a natural resource,” said Russell Simmons, DEF founder and
chairman of its advisory board.
