DEF Debuts DiamondsDoGood.com

The Diamond Empowerment Fund has introduced DiamondsDoGood.com, a website meant to show the positive role diamonds play in local communities.

The site was built in partnership with the Condé Nast Media Group.

This summer, DEF officials talked to JCK about the idea behind the site.

“There has been a void in communication of the vast amount of good the industry does,” said DEF cofounder Benjamin Chavis in a statement. “This website will help fill that void.”

Among the programs spotlighted by the site: Rio Tinto’s efforts to bring water to villages in India; DEF’s donations to student scholars; De Beers’ support of entrepreneurship in South Africa; how Chow Tai Fook helps efforts to educate women on maternal and children’s health in rural China; how Jewelers for Children donates to children in need.

The website is supported by social media. Its development was made possible through a grant from the JCK Industry Fund.
