Cool People and Stuff I Found During JCK Las Vegas 2012

The last couple of years I’ve been hard at work in the Show Daily room helping out our editors get that publication out every day while crafting our daily newsletter at the same time. The work didn’t leave me with a whole lot of time to walk the show floor.

This year, I made it a point to walk around with the goal of finding cool stuff to feature in this blog. It was a great experience that allowed me to meet jewelers and retailers I had only interacted with on social media or via email, as well as stumble upon some great surprises.

Here are some of the cool people and things I discovered at JCK Las Vegas 2012:

The Family That Works Together…

The wonderful women at Gumuchian invited me to visit their booth on Day 1 and they couldn’t have been more welcoming. This is Romy Schreiber and her mother Myriam Gumuchian ready to talk jewelry with show attendees at their booth in Prestige Promenade.

I also gave them some images for their next ad campaign:

A Clockwork Awesome

I really almost bought one of these great clocks from Rhythm U.S.A. on the spot.

The company’s president Yuichi Koizumi’s enthusiasm for his product was really contagious. I could tell he truly loved everything about these sensational timepieces.

QR Code Bling

A jewelry technology nerd’s fantasy: a bejeweled QR code made out of gemstones from Chinastone.

Everyone’s A Winner

At the JCK Rock Star reveal at the end of Day 1 everyone walked away a winner after enjoying some bubbly.

JCK Rising Star Nada G

The lovely and talented JCK Rising Star Nada Ghazal of Nada G gave me a nice welcome in the Design Center. Her jewelry is just as beautiful and charming as she is.

Show Stopping Designs From Alberto Parada

When I was a sales assistant in 2009, Albert Parada’s entry into that year’s JCK Jeweler’s Choice Awards stopped me in my tracks. I even emailed him to tell him how fantastic I thought his designs were. This year, I finally got to meet him in person and see that his new designs are just as awe-inspiring.

Ice Queens

I visited the Arctic with Bering Time and it is splendid.

These Aren’t Your Father’s Diamonds

Duepunti is doing some pretty innovative things with diamonds with help from Roy Goldwasser and Stephanie Grignet. Their diamond designs are colorful, unconventional, and are being worn by youthful, trendy celebrities which tells me this company will only get bigger and better.

Lego Nirvana

I’m pretty sure this Lego booth was put in this show specifically for me. Brand ambassadors Mark Shell and Sandra Wish graciously allowed me to take a picture of them and some of their favorite Lego watch designs.

I also tweeted about a Lego Yoda clock that was beyond incredible. Excited to see it I was.
