CIBJO president Gaetano Cavalieri on July 6 reported to the United Nations Economic and Social Council about his group’s
progress in advancing its program for corporate social responsibility education.

Cavalieri
delivered his statement at ECOSOC’s High-level Segment, held at the
United Nations headquarters in Geneva.

Cavalieri discussed the creation of the United
Nations International Training Centre for Corporate Opportunities, which will
operate the program at the Centre of Excellence in Antwerp.

“The centre aims at stimulating businesses
around the world to embrace corporate social responsibility,” he stated.  

Cavalieri also said the ITTCO program will cover
human rights, labor, and environmental issues, business codes of ethics,
corporate social investment, corporate sustainability, and governance issues
that are most relevant to the complete pipeline of the jewelry industry.
