Chicago Jeweler Assists With Social Media Marriage Proposal

Susan Sandberg, a third generation jeweler in Skokie, Ill., recently helped Adam Reinersten propose to his girlfriend, Michelle Anderson, through Twitter.

Back in September of 2009, Reinersten created a Twitter account, posting daily about reasons why he loves Anderson. On the 999th day this April, he proposed with a 15 minute video uploaded to Twitter in which he highlighted special moments in their relationship.

Knowing that he would propose on that day, Reinersten came to Sandberg Jewelers in advance to choose a non-traditional ring.

“I worked with him along with Susan,” Brittany Herman of Sandberg Jewelers, says. “Adam didn’t want anything traditional so we showed him the Gelin Abaci tension set collection.”

In April, after showing the video to Michelle and her family, Adam presented the ring, a 1.01 ct. t.w. round brilliant cut diamond set into a 14k white gold Gelin Abaci tension-set ring, and naturally, Anderson said yes.

“Since we’ve been in business for 90 years, we get to see succeeding generations share their special moments with us,” Herman says. “Although Adam is a new client, he is now a member of the store’s family.”
