Antiquorum Names New Head of Asian Division



On Aug. 24, Antiquorum Auctioneers announced that Charles Tearle had been named head of its Asian division overseeing offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing, and Tokyo. Tearle will continue to be in charge of the New York City watch department.

Tearle started his career started his career at age 16 at Somlo Antiques, a London-based vintage watch store. In 2004, he became head of the clock and watch department at Bonhams, Knightsbridge. A year later, he moved to California to establish a watch department for Bonhams & Butterfields in the United States. He joined Antiquorum as director and watch expert based in California in 2008 and moved to the head office in New York City in 2009. Tearle has also appeared on the public television series Antiques Roadshow and writes a quarterly column for Elite Traveler magazine.

“Mr. Tearle, with over 20 years of experience and understanding of the global horological market, brings with him a wealth of knowledge to his new position as head of our Asian division,” said Evan Zimmermann, president and CEO of Antiquorum Auctioneers, in a statement.  “With his guidance, we look forward to greatly expanding our presence and better serving our existing customers throughout Asia.”
