In the first half of 2011, Alrosa stood as the world’s top
diamond producer—again topping De Beers—the Russian diamond miner declared in
a statement.
The company unearthed 19 million cts. in the first half, an
8 percent increase in production over the first half of 2010.
Its average price per carat increased by 41 percent over
last year.
The company net profit was $594 million, a whopping five-fold
increase over the previous year.
