AGS to Bestow Award for Guild Service

At its upcoming Conclave, the American Gem Society will for the first time present the Sallie Morton Guild Award.

The award honors members who have gone above and beyond in their service to the AGS guilds.

Morton, who owned Morton Jewelers in Los Gatos, Calif. and is planning to attend Conclave, was instrumental in developing the AGS national guilds. She became the group’s first female president in the 1970s, and in 1982, she became the first woman to receive the prestigious Robert M. Shipley Award.

The award will be bestowed on April 25. The American Gem Society’s Conclave will be held April 23–26, at the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego.
