7.5-Carat Orange Stone Found in Africa

Namakwa Diamonds found an exceptionally rare 7.53-carat vivid orange diamond at
its mine in the Northwest Province in South Africa, it announced recently.

“Given the rarity and desirability of Vivid Orange stones of this size, we
expect it to be the talk of the town for some time to come,” said Namakwa’s
head of sales and trading Heno Kruger.

The company also recently found a 26.74-carat D Type IIa diamond. Both the type
IIa and orange stone have flawless potential, the company said. They will be
sold at   Namakwa Diamonds’ October 13 tender in Johannesburg.

Perhaps the most famous vivid orange diamond is the 5.54-carat “Pumpkin
Diamond” from Harry Winston worn by Halle Berry at the 2002 Oscars.
