Cindy
Cindy McCain at the Republican National Convention
Bright (Political) Horizons

If taste and fashion were the main issues in this election, JCKstyle would have a new favorite candidate. McCain, all the way (Cindy, we mean). McCain, with her vibrant colors, strong silhouettes, and perfect accessorizing, brought some much-needed elegance to the Republican National Convention this week. From her vibrant Oscar de la Renta shirtdress on Monday to her fabulous green dress on Wednesday, she's obviously a woman who knows her way around a closet. When she took the stage beside Laura Bush (who donned her usual muted skirt suit) on Monday night, fashion types everywhere breathed a sigh of relief.

Though McCain's jewelry isn't exactly revolutionary (signature jewels during the convention included a three-strand pearl necklace, Chanel watch, and diamond brooch), she isn't shy when it comes to accessorizing, wearing the classics comfortably and smartly pairing them with contemporary clothes. Her pulled-together looks contrast with rival Michelle Obama, whose style is confident, but doesn't seem quite so effortless. We’re sure that Obama will develop her obvious fashion potential should she become First Lady, but the 54-year-old McCain, 10 years Obama’s senior, has unquestionably already nailed her personal style (being a wealthy heiress hasn't hurt).

While the November election will determine many factors, the convention wardrobes make one thing certain: The White House will be rocking bright colors and bold jewelry come January.
