DVF Takes Time

H.Stern this week presented a new line of jeweled timepieces inspired by Diane von Furstenberg at the iconic designer's New York apartment. The Sutra Watch Collection holds its evolutionary roots in the jewels of the Diane von Furstenberg by H.Stern collection, which first hit stores in 2005. Comprising nine different watches in three distinct styles—Sutra Pendant, Sutra Diamond, and Sutra Sport—the element that holds the collection together carries over from the jewelry line: The signature asymmetric, organic rocklike shape forms the clear sapphire-crystal watchcase.

When von Furstenberg approached Roberto Stern, H.Stern president and creative director, in 2003 about collaborating on a jewelry collection, she had no idea that five years later the relationship would bring to fruition her first creation in the realm of watchmaking, but coming out the other end she offered these words of advice and inspiration: "Plan the future, remember the past, live the present, and capture the moment. It's time to be a woman."

Prices for the new watch collection will range from $1,500 to $9,700 and will be available in H.Stern and DVF stores, as well as in select department stores and independent jewelry retailers worldwide in September 2008.

Hearts On Fire, in a unique partnership with Bernie Robbins Jewelers, will open its first U.S. retail store in Atlantic City, N.J., this month. The shop, bearing the Hearts On Fire name and carrying the diamond brand's merchandise, will be owned and operated by the Pennsylvania-based retail chain.
