Milanese
Milanese design house Antonini shows that negative space and the use of pavé are going to be big this coming season.
Basel or Bust!

BaselWorld, to many, is primarily seen as a watch show and the long stop before a quick jaunt to Geneva, but it seems that no one told jewelers as much. This week's fair in Basel, Switzerland, was primed to serve up the jewelry trends for the rest of the year. The top looks spotted by JCKstyle:

Negative Space: The still-present trend of light openwork has been expanded. Designers are now toying with creating open space in larger, chunky work.
Rose Gold: Continuing to be a favorite of designers worldwide, everyone is thinking pink.
Green Stones: Along with rosy metals, green stones have become the prevailing color choice with perennial favorite bluish tones taking a backseat to emeralds, sapphires, and tourmalines.
Texture: Mixing striated surfaces against high-gloss finishes is not uncommon, but old tricks are abandoned this year with the new trend being toward adding hints of pavé to glossy and matte finishes for a sophisticated twist.
Cabochons: Facets are by no means about to give up their crown, but sleek and smooth stones are definitely no longer just pretenders to the throne. Cabochons owe their newfound status to new texture demands, begging for different avenues of juxtaposition.

Weekly Gem
Roberto Coin is making a power play to become a lifestyle brand with his addition of leather clutches and sneakers. This week, in Basel, the jeweler debuted a line of gold leather (the technology for which he is currently pursuing a patent), not to be confused with gold-colored leather or gold-dyed leather accessories. These luxury goods will only be available in international boutiques for the time being, but should be ready to hit Stateside retailers soon.
