Live From JCK Tucson 2014: 10 Firms to See and Why

Working a trade show can be grueling, but the intimate format of JCK Tucson (the final exhibitor list showed a total of 127 vendors) has made the process downright enjoyable! After walking the entire show floor, here are 10 firms I encountered that I think retailers should check out and why.

Noble by Bendtner men's jewelry

Noble by Bendtner is a men’s jewelry line new to the United States from Denmark. The designer is professional soccer player Nicklas Bendtner, and the silver and stingray styles have diamonds and a significant presence when worn. Bonus: a U.S.-based rep—Kasper Markussen, km@arslev.com (see his other Danish lines here).

Zina Sterling

Oversize sterling rings with vintage ivory (the stuff had been sitting in the vault for 30-plus years) from Zina Sterling are available in myriad whimsical cuts and shapes and in a limited quantity. Triple key markup equates $270 apiece.

JS Noor gold jewelry

J S Noor fabricates every piece. And if that isn’t impressive enough, its show special is: a trip to India with every $16,000 order.

Carousel ring by Lord Jewelry

Lord Jewelry has beautiful, colorful pieces featuring impressive engineering aspects, like this carousel ring that spins.

Gemstone rings by Dabakarov

Dabakarov has modern classic styles that are well made and offered at ridiculously affordable prices. Case in point: These petite rings in 14k gold with gemstone centers start at $450 retail. Bonus: The salesmen are really funny. On the firm’s generous margins for retailers, one said to me, “We sell money and you get jewelry with it.”

Aspery and Guldag gold jewelry

Aspery & Guldag jewelry is flat-out pretty in 18k rose, white, and yellow gold. Be sure to see the substantial stacking bracelets with diamonds as well as lighthearted looks like smiley faces and chic pyramid motifs.

Vivaan diamond jewelry

Vivaan brought its beautiful natural-colored diamond slices to Tucson this week, as well as the trio of bands shown here with inversely set diamonds that turned out to be a favorite among editors.

Seahorse in gold by Pampillonia Designs

Pampillonia Designs’ sweet gold and pearl seahorse speaks to the firm’s animal-inspired signature aesthetic and will appeal to fans of classical looks (and all good people who like animals).

United Gemco front-to-back earrings

Colored stone jewelry maker United Gemco was selling a lot of front-to-back earrings like the ones shown, which are sure to appeal to young shoppers.

David Mor necklace with sapphire cabochon and diamonds

Colored stone and diamond jeweler David Mor exhibited for the first time, and the firm’s classically styled pieces were breathtaking.
