In the window of the Edward Mirell booth at the Centurion Jewelry show this spring, one unassuming piece stood out amid a sea of others: a small green frog ring. An anodized green, cast black titanium frog ring is impossibly cute: a perky, slightly metallic-looking amphibian with bulging eyes and a low profile hugs a leaf—and the lucky finger that happens to be beneath it. The ring was admired by the majority of passersby at the Phoenix show and that momentum carried over through jewelry week in Las Vegas.

“We have tiers of jewelry in our displays, and people will walk by and zone in and pull him off the display,” says Adam Rosenberg, director of business development and sales. A number of clients ordering just men’s styles added a frog to orders simply for personal wear. “We wrote him on 75 percent of orders at Centurion,” says Rosenberg. “At JCK, we wrote orders for about 70.”

The ring was the first piece in the Prosperity collection (a customer suggested the name because frogs are a symbol of prosperity in Asian culture), which the company supplemented with five more SKUs for JCK Las Vegas. The backstory reflects the quirky personality of company owner Eddie Rosenberg: an aunt penned a letter to him, encouraging him to embrace life’s everyday miracles, including the beauty and resilience of nature. His attempt at doing so—with the help of an in-house designer—resulted in the little tadpole design. Since its unveiling, the piece has found homes everywhere—from Canada to California to New York City to the Caribbean.

And though the frog ring is available in gray, most have ordered it in green; both colors retail for just $199.
