Any day is a good day to be a jewelry editor, but it’s a particularly fine day when you get to look at jewelry at the Feninjer Fair in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

That’s where I am for the next few days, and I’ll be busily posting images and interviews to JCK’s web site and Style 360 blog, as well as conducting video interviews with some of the designers. (The videos will take a week or so to upload due to editing.)

Since I just landed this morning, I didn’t yet spend a great deal of time at the show, but here are a few of the highlights I’m expecting to see through August 3:

  • Gorgeous colored stone and yellow gold jewelry. This is what Brazil is all about, so expect to see plenty here over the next week.
  • Inspiration. From loose stones to nature themes, there’s no shortage of means to inspire show attendees and other exhibitors.
  • Great prices, 18k gold designs, friendly people, and fabulous food—Pao de Queijo—and drink (Caipirinha, anyone?). I’m still surprised that more Americans don’t frequent this show. Brazilian style is bold and colorful, and an increase in the use of diamonds makes it that much more palatable to the traditional American aesthetic.

Stay tuned for more. Boa Noite!

IBGM's jewelry lover in training

Precious little Louisa may be the Brazil's youngest jewelry fan at 10 months old. The clothes say color, but the necklace is all about the pearls.
