Stone & Strand Debuts Vintage Tiffany & Co. Collection

The retailer tapped stylist and vintage retailer Olivia La Roche to curate

Stone & Strand is capitalizing on the recent resurgence of vintage Tiffany & Co. designs in fashion.

This week, the New York City–based clicks-and-bricks fine jewelry retailer debuted a collection of iconic Tiffany & Co. pieces curated by stylist and vintage jewelry dealer Olivia La Roche, who co-owns hip New York City vintage boutique Petra Von Kant.

The cache of mostly sterling silver pieces includes best-selling house designs along with a number of discontinued pieces, the majority of which were designed by legendary Tiffany & Co. designer Elsa Peretti.

There’s the tubular Doughnut Bangle, the wavy, anatomical Bone Cuff, and the iconic Bean design—in pendant, choker, and bracelet form—to name a few of the historically significant pieces in the collection.

With white metal jewelry gaining popularity among younger jewelry lovers—and the full-on return of blingy, historical Tiffany pieces to recent red carpets (see Emma Stone and Reese Witherspoon in classic Tiffany & Co. chokers at the 2017 Golden Globes), the time seems particularly ripe for this campaign.

After years of yellow gold designs (often pavéed to the hilt) dominating the fashion jewelry category, Peretti’s pared-down, curvaceous silver designs from the ’70s and ’80s feel revolutionary—which, at the time of their inception, they absolutely were.

“Older Tiffany & Co., like what Olivia La Roche curated for us, holds this beauty and timelessness that excels past the brand name to make it wearable art,” Stone & Strand CEO Nadine McCarthy Kahane told JCK. “These vintage pieces speak to a love for craftsmanship and originality that is returning full force across all style mediums.”

Prices for the collection range from $260 for an Abstract Full Heart Pendant to $1,500 for a pair of beveled sterling silver ear cuffs (see top photo) that, though designed many decades ago, could hardly feel more modern.
