Britt’s Pick: Oscar Heyman’s Fire Opal Ring

Oscar Heyman platinum fire opal and diamond ring

What immediately struck me about Oscar Heyman‘s ring, as you may have guessed, is its bright orange center. Not for its fiery hue, though that’s a major point, too, but because it just looks so glittery. It reminds me of something I would be drawn to while browsing in a store—a beauty product, maybe—containing the brightest polish, cream, or gloss, and I just have to buy it because the packaging is that good. What’s inside this package is way better than any beauty product could offer, though, and it weighs 15.32 cts. That fire opal center is astonishingly whimsical, like if you shake it, a flurry of glitter will swirl around inside. Okay, so it won’t actually do that, but I bet if you had it on your finger, you’d be mesmerized nonetheless with its many points of color, swirling around when it hits the light just so. And if that wasn’t  enough for you, 20 diamonds (including fancy yellows), encircle the center stone of this platinum and gold piece. It’s just the pick-me-up I need as we push through this last (hot, so hot), month of summer.
