8 Bracelets That Would Have Made Us Love (Rather Than Loathe) Those White Gloves

I don’t know if any celebrity’s red carpet look was more anticipated than Amal Clooney’s at Sunday’s Golden Globes. The stunning woman who finally got George to settle down has been somewhat of a noted figure in fashion as of late, but she doesn’t seem like she’s working very hard at it—she just does it. She’s beautiful, full of class, intelligent, charitable, and so many other good things that make her alluring and admired. So when she stepped onto the red carpet in her understated, one-shoulder Dior gown, it was all good. Beautifully fitting dress, dazzling diamond earrings from Harry Winston (score!)—but wait—are those white gloves? Dang, so close. Now mind you, while many loathed this addition, some truly loved it. Personally, I pretty much hated it. But I could have been so easily swayed had Amal accessorized her accessories. Granted, she doesn’t seem like the sort of celebrity to flaunt heaping piles of diamonds in one fitting (the earrings proved dazzling on their own, and her “Je Suis Charlie” pin was touching, fitting, and frankly, sufficiently statement-making), but boy, if she had. Can you imagine? With a wrist full of bracelets, she may have convinced us all that we should be wearing arm-length white gloves more often, if only to provide a better backdrop to our jewelry. So while I admire Mrs. Clooney’s sense of easy (if not über-high-class) style and beauty, I see her somewhat-boring choice of accessory as a missed opportunity—at least, for us oglers in the jewelry industry. Here are 8 bracelets that would have made us all swoon—and maybe reach for a pair of gloves all our own.
