Celestial themes are perennial favorites, and this season provides fresh designs of starbursts and stars worth wishing for, if not also for making wishes upon.
The list of the month’s objects of desire in the August 2012 issue of Harper’s Bazaar includes an ornate pair of earrings centered with stars from Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci that “will have you seeing stars,” says the magazine. Also on the list is an opulent bow-shape necklace from Loewe a gemstone-encrusted cocktail ring from De Grisogono, and a diamond ring of a twisted design from Le Vian.
On the cover of the August 2012 issue of Glamour, actress Mila Kunis wears a pair of delicate pendant necklaces: a star necklace from Minor Obsessions and a key necklace from Elisa Solomon Jewelry. She also wears a Cartier bracelet and a ring from Michael Kors. Her shirt is from Club Monaco, her jeans from Current/Elliott, and her hat from Rag & Bone.
Singer and model Karen Elson wears a cocktail ring with Swarovski crystal detail in the shape of a star from lyralovestar.com in the August 2012 issue of Lucky.
Among the round-faced wristwatches featured in the August 2012 issue of InStyle is a diamond and 18k rose gold watch with a satin strap from Chopard, which features five stars in the design. The other watches pictured are bamboo and steel from Gucci, PVD-coated stainless steel from Movado, and crystal and stainless steel with a calfskin strap from Swarovski.
The August 2012 issue of InStyle also focuses on “crown jewels,” reporting: “Decorative barrettes, headbands, and clips were the standout accessories at many shows this fall.” Among the styles highlighted: “At Rodarte, Odile Gilbert pinned metal star-embellished barrettes to the side of faux bobs.” In a variation on the black velvet ribbons worn at the throat, Redken’s creative consultant Guido suggests a lower cost alternative to some of the styles highlighted: “Get a black velvet headband at the drugstore and clip on an antique brooch.”
“Sculptural headpieces were the Met Ball’s showstopping accessory,” reports the July 2012 issue of Vogue. Among the celebrities pictured is actress Kirsten Dunst wearing Rodarte with a constellation of stars in her hair.
The June-July issue of Town & Country features a Verdura petrified wood bracelet with diamond star, along with a James de Givenchy for Taffin wood cuff with chalcedony dots and rings and a Henri J. Sillam coral tassel necklace.
Starbursts too have a place in the fashion firmament.
Actress Jessica Biel appears in the August 2012 issue of InStyle wearing a diamond and 18k gold necklace dotted with starbursts and earrings (the latter obscured) from Neil Lane Jewelry. She also wears a Claude Morady Estate Jewelry coral and 18k gold vintage ring (also not visible) with her ensemble from Dolce & Gabbana.
This look from the July 2012 issue of Allure highlights a starburst design cuff by Ranjana Khan.
