Forward-facing ovals, both in solid discs and in open-center door-knocker styles, are dangling from ears in innumerable fashion spreads this season.

Classic door-knocker–shape earrings rendered in white from Roni Blanshay for Jennifer Miller and a set of bracelets from Valentino accessorize a Ralph Lauren Collection gown and Ralph Lauren Blue Label blazer in this photo from the May 2012 issue of Town & Country.

Classic door-knocker style gold mesh earrings from House of Lavande accessorize a floral print dress from Proenza Schouler in this photo from the April 2012 issue of Allure.

A much lighter version of door-knocker style earrings is this gold pair by Devon Leigh also featured in the April 2012 issue of Allure. The gold cuff is from Aurélie Bidermann. The ensemble is by Dolce & Gabbana.

The March 2012 issue of Vogue features bright yellow disc earrings from Cara Croninger with an embroidered coat and dress from Carolina Herrera.

The March 2012 issue of Elle feature elaborate brass earrings from Emilio Pucci, a gold cuff from Aurélie Bidermann, and rings from Stephen Dweck and Swarovski Crystallized as accompaniments to a jacket and top from Gucci. The herringbone belt is from Balmain.

Singer Hillary Scott of Lady Antebellum is pictured in the February 2012 issue of InStyle wearing huge doorknocker style earrings, not identified.

Actress Dianna Agron wears doorknocker crystal clip earrings from Swarovski along with a dress by Giorgio Armani in this photo from the February 2012 issue of Elle. She also wears a geometric cuff from Robert Lee Morris and a chain bracelet from Sequin.

Here’s an ad for Miu Miu eyewear from the May 7, 2012 issue of New York magazine, with a sassy take on cameos on dangling disks.

Here’s another variation on the forward-facing earrings style rendered in 22k gold, emeralds, and diamonds from Munnu/The Gem Palace pictured in the April 2012 issue of Vogue. The magazine’s style editor at large, Elisabeth von Thurn und Taxis, also wears with her Proenza Schouler dress an Yves Saint Laurent Lacy cuff; a diamond bangle and emerald and diamond snake bracelet from Fred Leighton; an 18k gold, pink tourmaline, and diamond cuff from Chanel Fine Jewelry; and an 18k gold, yellow sapphire, peridot, ruby, and diamond charm bracelet from de Grisogono. The necklaces are not identified.

This season, forward-facing earrings are fashion-forward as well.
