Platinum Guild Jewelry Preview

May 11, 2009

Every spring, the Platinum Guild International hosts an Editor Preview Day for fashion journalists to view some of the newest looks from a variety of platinum jewelry makers.

There are always a number of bridal jewelry designs, as well as cool fashion pieces and the occasional wristwatch or two. But with the spirit of platinum in mind, here is a small (rare) selection of my favorite designs from the day. Enjoy.

To see more platinum jewelry designs, be sure to read the June issue of JCK Magazine, where we’ll feature platinum jewelry designs in the First Read Style section.

We’re in a recession, but you wouldn’t know it by seeing the Jacob & Co. jewels: platinum and diamond tourbillion watch, $245,000, and cufflinks, $87,600.

Gumuchian’s Cloud Nine diamond ring is indeed, dreamy. Suggested retail price: $28,000.

Chad Allison’s oh-so-feminine diamond designs would make a beautiful addition to any bride’s big day. The chandelier earrings are $10,070; ornate linear earrings, $6,300; and, chandelier pendant necklace and chain, $12,600.

Tom Munsteiner’s Magic Eye aquamarine pendant weighs in at 23.46 carats and retails for $14,200. If you attend the American Gem Trade Association GemFair Tucson, don’t miss the German stone cutters, particularly Atelier Munsteiner.

Tom Rucker’s Geo Starlight (front) and Geo Galaxy earrings feature diamonds. The former retails for $32,400  and the latter pair is $14,200.

A gorgeous blue agate bangle by Ashok Sancheti features diamond accents and retails for $90,000.

Tortoise shell and diamond combs, circa 1915, from Stephen Russell are $55,000.

Sweet diamond charm necklaces by Rhonda Faber Green range in price from $1,660 - $3,640.

Tenthio’s Bohemian Butterfly pendant is $1,900.

Finally, a 12ct. t.w. round diamond center stone is a mere $900,000. Can you guess whose this is? Yes, it’s Jacob & Co. [The plain platinum wedding band is my own.]
