Marion Cotillard's Stylist Misses the Mark
Now, I like to think of myself as an optimist … but sometimes you just can’t see the good any situation.
Marion Cotillard’s dress is one of those situations.

Image courtesy of The Diamond Information Center.
I’m sorry, I just don’t get it.
Just off of the top of my head I think: wallpaper, shower curtain, snake scales, mermaid from Splash.
And is it just me or do the women behind her in the picture seem to be laughing at her.
With all that dress going on I barely even noticed the 64 cts. t.w. champagne diamond briolette necklace or the 106 cts. t.w. light and dark brown diamond necklace that Cotillard was wearing.
Not even Chopard could be noticed through all that print, folks. That says quite a bit about how much of a mis-step this dress was.
Okay, I don’t want to get too down on the dress, let’s just try to learn from this together and move on.

After the Fact commented:
I just ran across this post now but if you think that was bad then
you must have hated this year's Grammy dresses.
Pitter commented:
Hello,i'm reading this comments and statements.
Lori Anne commented:
Even beautiful women sometimes make fashion faux pas... Definitely
something fishy about her choice of dresses!! ; )
layla commented:
Her look was gorgeous just like her
FlavioAboutJ commented:
Poor thing, she would look much better in Italian designs.
DesignOptimist commented:
This may just be an industry rumor, but I think that it is shameful
that Chopard pays people they feel are going to be awards winners
to wear their jewelry to the Oscars. My husband thinks that it is
comparable to paying both quarterbacks a retainer to say "I'm going
to Disneyland" and then paying the one who actually wins and says
it on air a higher fee. He may be right, but it is cold comfort for
other designers who may need the exposure more than megabrands who
have the extra cash. I think it is more like that classic payola
situations of 50s radio. Sorry to go on and on, but it is a sore
subject for me. Can you tell?
FishyInDenmarkJoke commented:
All of my friends loved this dress and all if them look at me like
I'm crazy when I say it isn't for me. One even said "I love it, it
is so French!" What does that even mean? Someone please fill me in.
Angie commented:
I don't mind the bottom half of the dress, but a few friends that I
had over to watch the awards all agreed that it looked like someone
sprayed whipped cream around her bust just before she left the
house. I wouldn't go that far, but it is the best thing that I've
heard about the dress.
HollyM commented:
She WOULD look beautiful in anything, but no woman SHOULD wear
anything that you have to depend on your good looks to carry off.
JC commented:
I think she looked beautiful!!
Kate K. commented:
I was ambivalent to it. Best dress of the night was Jessica Alba;
Amy Adams a close second. And Diablo Cody too.
Em commented:
I didn't like it either.
michael h commented:
i thought she looked lovely...
Sarah commented:
The verdict is in: I HATED Marion's dress! The shape of it was
lovely, I thought, but what the hell was with the "scales"
pattern?? A nice, flared, mermaid hem can be quite flattering to
some women (not me, too much junk in the trunk), but adding the
scales is just. taking. it. too. far.
Reuben Tom Kee commented:
I like the dress. Marion carried it off well but I agree (assume)
the stylist did not pair up the right jewellery..
Bookish Betty commented:
Whatever, Marion looks fabulous. Only someone with that gorgeous
face, rich creamy complexion, and jet hair could have pulled off
that dress and she did!
Jennifer Heebner commented:
Seriously, that woman in black bed sheets behind her has no
business laughing at the fish-scale dress.
