Galliano’s Jewelry Debut

June 26, 2008

Fashion designer John Galliano previewed his new fine jewelry collection on the runways of Paris Fashion Week this past February. The collection is based on three themes—daggers, coins, and flowers. A total of around 50 pieces were produced by Les Jardins d’Avron SA, the maker and distributor of Galliano’s ready-to-wear, and will be distributed beginning this fall by upscale jeweler Valente, which has signed a multi-year contract to produce a global Galliano jewelry collection. The collection  officially debuted at Basel and are fashioned in striking colors like lapis, orange, and gold, and run include pendants, rings, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings.

Galliano has also joined forces with Italian brand Morellato, which produces watches for Roberto Cavalli and Moschino, to bring consumers a signature line of watches.

While the jewelry line premiered at BaselWorld this year watches are slated to hitting stockists next year, but the jewelry is said to hold clues as to what the watches will be like, as Galliano tries to blur the lines between watches and jewelry.

"The Galliano watch is very feminine, very delicate; it’s more like a jewel than a watch," he said. "I was really inspired to create a watch that would go with a beautiful evening dress, as well as add to your day."
