Market Visit: Katrina Kelly Jewelry

This morning I met new jewelry designer Katrina Kelly, who launched her own design business just six months ago. She’s been a bench jeweler in industry for 10 years, but cultivated her own signature style—feminine, delicate and airy, with elongated details—for wholesale.

Here is Katrina, modelling a pair of her earrings.

“I like pink [stones], fleur-di-lis and teardrop shapes, dome designs, satin-finished green gold, and yellow gold finishes” she explains.

This bracelet is so pretty! Very delicate in appearance, but with a lot of details and it’s quite sturdy despite its dainty look.

I love the oval shape of the rings.

A cosmopolitan background is also evident in her work. Kelly secured metalsmithing degrees from the University of North Texas and Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School and Academy, Florence, Italy, as well as working as a bench jeweler for a maker of Turkish-style jewelry, and others. The resulting jewelry bears an East-meets-West style that is evident in tiny tube-set colored stones and pavé, lattice-like designs, and oversize rounded shapes. All jewelry is cast in 18k gold in New York, and suggested retail prices start at $1,000.
