Market Visit: Slane & Slane

Carrie Soucy and I saw new pieces in Slane & Slane’s spring 2009 collection last week in the designers’ Manhattan studio. Slane & Slane’s Roberta Seiler guided us through the tour of new pieces, which feature updated styles of Slane & Slane’s signature bold looks and textured sterling designs. I’ve just posted the highlights of the new stuff.

 
Slane & Slane’s Roberta Seiler showed us new chains.

There is a heavy emphasis on chains for spring styles, and Slane & Slane interprets the look with multiple strands of different-size links. The materials used, mainly sterling silver, are a deliberate efforts to keep costs down in light of the economy. 

Everyone loved this bracelet! Big, fun, and attainable in sterling.

This lariat with tassels is my favorite.

The Torsades collection comprises one-off styles of chunky pearl and gemstone necklaces.

 

Layers of freshwater pearls and gemstone beads offer a luxurious look for a reasonable price.

Monograms are played up more on some pieces, like this bracelet. 

Yellow gold additions to the Feather collection. I like these styles more in yellow than in silver.


Check out the choker in the center back. It’s fantastic, and we expect to see more of them moving forward into spring. 

Additions to the Column collection feature colored stones.

The new and the tentatively named Romantic Mirror collection features diamonds set in sterling silver.
