Marketing Tips from JCK Las Vegas

May 31, 2009

Welcome to Retail Details! JCK’s newest blog will be populated by senior editors Jennifer Heebner and Paul Holewa, and will focus on practical tips and insights that jewelers can use to increase business, improve marketing efforts, and save money.

This week our team is attending the annual JCK Las Vegas show—a perfect opportunity to speak with jewelers nationwide, and take advantage of the valuable exchange of ideas being shared amongst peers. For those of you who couldn’t make it to the show, here’s a sampling of some of the wisdom.

Send $25 gift cards to young clients five weeks after they have ears pierced, when they’re ready to buy their first pair.

Mail out single stud earrings to clients along with invitations to pick up their mates— free of charge—in your store.

Pay staffers a dollar for every email address they collect; all are used to send reminders of birthdays and anniversaries to customers.

Refuse to participate in the recession!

JCK met the originators of the “No Doom and Gloom” stickers and buttons, Linda and Dale Condy, Gems of La Costa, Carlsbad, Calif. Check out their blog at www.NoDoomGloom.blogspot.com
