JCK has been speaking to dozens of retailers all this week, and editors keep asking one crucial question: What are you shopping for this week at JCK Luxury, JCK Premiere, and JCK Las Vegas?

“We are filling in with very small collections, and are looking for fun picks, too (we bought some Jordan Scott steel and diamond bracelets). We’re looking for understated luxury, such as Sylva & Cie; we bought them last year and sold out quickly.”

“We hope to find some ‘wow’ items that we think will turn. We’re looking for quality, good buys, and for vendors who are wonderful to deal with. We feel like we’re in a partnership with them, we do need each other, so it helps to have good vendors. We also like [JCK] Luxury a lot, [the management is] very attentive to our needs. In particular, Diane Hornberger does a phenomenal job and is really on top of things.”

“I come early to buy one-of-a-kinds so I can see them before they get picked over. Basically, I’m looking at basics, which is not something I typically [carry] but may do now. I’m also looking at some good memo programs.”

“I’m looking for items that will sell at Christmas! I’m being more conservative with money, but am looking for unique items at a good price point. This past Christmas was so different that I can’t take as many chances. I’m also looking for merchandise that I can pay cash for now. I’m rethinking everything in the store.”
