Use Displays to Communicate Latest Trends
Plan now to use your displays to communicate the latest trends in fashion and colors that are important to the shoppers attracted to your store. Really effective display cases can help shoppers engage in buying decisions and create a more exciting environment. In general, consumers are spending less time in stores so more effective displays are more needed today than ever before. Attractive and inviting displays can extend the amount of time shoppers spend in your store.
How can your displays stop shoppers in their tracks? Create a boutique feel by providing unique design themes for individual display cases. Consider how your displays can use a combination of graphics and fixtures to highlight jewelry. Graphics can very effectively convey emotions and provide a beautiful backdrop for display cases. More jewelers should use lifestyle graphics for wall presentations and to create a background in display cases. Graphics can instantly communicate messages about merchandise and trends. Jewelry stores have wonderful opportunities to share how beautiful their products are through those long horizontal displays that can communicate fashion, design, and style. Effective visual merchandising and showcasing items requires advanced planning. Creative merchandising is about selling the idea and letting the display sell the product. Use current fashion, accessory and jewelry trends to create more interest in your inventory.

Hello Marlene A. Petersen and thanks for the posting.
You are so right when it comes jewelers underestimating the impact that old tired looking display cases can have on shoppers.
Here is another . . . . the carpet! I have walked out of jewelry stores because of the smell of mold coming from a old carpets.
It costs money to be in business and replacing items that have a profound effect on store atmospherics must be addressed in a timely manne. Too few stores save for these sorts of expenditures.
Many of today's customers want compelling shopping experiences. The look and feel of a jewely store is extremely important.

Many stores that I visited before setting up my business were well stocked with beautiful inventory. Where they fell down was display cases which they had not replaced since their store opened 25 years ago. Don't be afraid to update your store display cases. It will make a huge difference for buyers. One thing I have noted over the years is that people like change in their favorite shops. It makes them feel you are keeping abreast of the times and that you are successful.

OK OJ. Let's get you focused. LOL
Let's start by getting you to think about the unique shoppers attracted to your store. . . Your most loyal customers. The trends that are important to them are not the same as other jewelry customers. How does your store use fashion, accessory and jewelry trends to more effectively merchandise your inventory?
What fashion magazines do your most loyal customers read most often? What fashion, accessory and jewelry trends are these publications showing? How does your visual merchandising convey any of these trends? As the blog pointed out you can create a background for a jewelry display case. Consider mounting graphics or advertisements that convey these trends. Mount it on foam core and mount it so it ties in with the jewerly displayed in front of it. Don't just leave a bunch of magazines laying about. Make the information three dimensional as props for your visual displays.
Now . . how are you leveraging these trends through visual merchandising to more effectively engage shoppers?
Here is another bit of help for you. . . Color!
What trendy color is your store featuring right now? Do you ever paint a few accent walls in the store with hot trendy fashion colors? This is another example of how to use displays to communicate a trend.
Yes, shoppers want to know what the trends are and visual merchandising speaks volumes about your expertise as a fashion, accessory, design professional.
