Robbins Diamonds Billboard on I-95 South to Philly Airport

March 9, 2009

I nearly drove off the road from laughing so hard the first time I saw this Robbins Diamonds billboard on my way to the Philadelphia airport. It’s innovative and grabs your attention, for sure. I’ve passed it several times this winter, and each time I still laugh.

No, that’s her ring finger.

This is the ad I see on I-95 South en route to the Philadelphia airport. I did not snap this photo while driving, I was too busy laughing and trying not to miss my exit to park.

If your sense of humor is less irreverent, you might not find it as funny (one group of local moms isn’t laughing about it), but if you like a bit of cheeky humor, then it’s right up your alley.

Another tamer Robbins Diamonds ad in the Philadelphia area.

What’s your opinion: Over the top or totally funny? Weigh in by way of the comment function.

Okay, so I'll be the first to stand up and be honest - This ad is
in such Bad taste. Putting up "the finger" in an ad in order to get
attention is so childish. We don't need any more trashy, negative
ads just for desperate attention. And no man wants a woman to
demand an engagement ring from him. Two Thumbs DOWN for you!

I Love it! It does the job of getting your attention to the store
for the purpose of engagement rings!

Doesn't matter that it isn't completely original. I love it and it
seems to work. That's what it's all about. It's better than "a
diamond in my beard."

Nice, BUT....not original! Eddy Elzas of Antwerp had B&W ad
years ago, showing himself, smirk o his face, holding up his hand
the same way - but with the middle finger up, probably the reason u
never saw this ad in the US - with a ring that that showed a large
princess cut fancy yellow diamond (the only color on th B&W
page)accompanied by the text; "who said diamonds have to be
white..."

It definitely grabs your attention--as even the moms on your link
admit. That's what a billboard is supposed to do and it does it
brilliantly. I personally think it' a hoot--love it! I had heard of
it but not seen it, since I go to the airport via 476S to 95N, not
south. Glad you weren't driving and snapping, though!
