Grabbing Customer’s Attention with DVD Loops and Digital Frames
I do have a plasma screen in store but hesitate to loop a designers DVD in store. Reason being—my customer’s are in my store and I want them to be comfortable. The TV rests on the wall right behind the bar and I want the men and women who come into my store to be able to relax, have a drink, and shop at their leisure. I love this time of year because football season has the men sitting at the bar while the women shop. It is absolutely awesome! The jewelry stores I visit with TV’s are always looping a designers line—so tell me—have you sold a pieces a customer saw on the loop? Do customers really take the time to watch them or are they just for background noise?
The latest way I read of grabbing customer’s attention was in Southern Jewelry News an article about jewelry slide shows being played on digital photo frames. Any other ideas of how to use digital photo frames? Read here.

Half the battle is getting the consumer into the store. DVD loops
also allow consumers to see potentially the entire collection or
line of a designer. Retailers may not carry the entire collection
only a snapshot - dvd loops can then allow a retailer to show off
more than one piece in a specific collection and entice a consumer
to come in to inquire about that piece. Depending on how enticing
the loop is (does it have music or sound associated with the
imagery, are the graphics flashy and eye-catching) the consumer
will look at it - much like any other piece of advertising. DVD
loops can be an inexpensive way to showcase a designer or the
benefits of the retailer themselves.

We have a monitor in the window showing jewelry that we sell in the
store. I definitly think it draws people to the store, and lets
then preview the type of designs that we sell. It works especially
well because there is a nail salon across from us, and people can
see it while they get their nails done. We built a special window
display to set it in.
