My First Day at Couture—Random Show News Part III
We had our first appointment at Couture this morning. I could not believe how empty the show was. Usually, our vendors only schedule hour appointments but for the first time not only were we given two hours but we had three associates sitting with us showing us product. There were more staff members than people buying. Last year, as soon as it hit an hour we were rushed out and had to wait until an order was emailed to us to go over it and make sure all the items I wanted were added to the invoice. As usual though, the showrooms were decked out and looked beautiful. Of course, I forgot to even take my camera out of the bag but I saw that they weren’t allowing any one to take pictures—for security reasons of course. The other terribly sad news about this years show is I have yet to see vendors with trays of new product. Each appointment David and I went too—our vendors did have some new product but nothing to brag about. The items produced in white gold and platinum now being offered in yellow is NOT considered new product. The other thing I did notice was that most vendors are seeking alternative metals—palladium was everywhere and every item I like or wanted was being offered in gold, palladium, and platinum.
Tomorrow we hit Luxury and Premiere. I love the fact we get to have breakfast that I didn’t have to make. Stay tuned for news about Luxury/Premiere.
