Win Their Hearts on V-Day!

February 14, 2007

Most people woke up this morning thinking, “love is in the air.” Jeweler’s woke up saying “I can’t wait to see the money roll in.” Don’t feel embarrassed…today is the day we cater to our customers. We want to see their love multiply (and of course our sales).

For those that wished their sales could’ve used a boost…here are some ideas:

  1. Magicproposals…a company that helps bachelors come up with the most magical marriage proposal possible. Call the company and get one of their “proposal gurus” to visit as part of an Early Valentine’s Day Special. “Buy a ring and get free advice on how to create the most magical moment.”
  2. Twenty Ways to Pop the Question by David W. Richardson and Jean M. Means. Go beyond just being your customer’s jeweler. Talk to each one of your customers about how they are going to “pop the question.” Offer tips on hot spots in your area, romantic restaurants, and getaways. Then, give each lost man a book with a personal message to help them remember you not just the oodles of money they spent. Most of them will take the book in stride and your personal message might send them running back to you for the wedding band…when the time is right.
  3. Eminger Berries. The highest tier of luxury dessert creations…stuffed strawberries (life couldn’t get any better). Any customer who purchases diamond jewelry over $500 promise to send their Valentine a package of these delicious creations.
  4. Be your customer’s Concierge. Set up a desk somewhere in the showroom, aside from the traffic of course, with a smiling associate, a computer, phone, and calendar. Sales between January 25th-February 10th offer to make your customer’s Valentine’s Day dinner or lunch reservations. As a surprise treat you can buy them a bottle of wine with your store’s name and have it served with their cuisine.
  5. Wine Gift Club, San Diego Wine and Culinary Center, and Su Vino Winery offer custom label wine. Mail a bottle to some of your best customer’s with a note attesting to their remarkable relationship.
  6. Lobster Anywhere. There are plenty of retailer merchants like jewelers who just can’t get away but find just enough time to stop and shop at your store. Offer them a fresh seafood dinner overnight. Help them make their Valentine’s Day special even at home.

How did you boost your sales this Valentine’s Day?
