A Jewelers Version of Humor
I understand the seriousness of conflict diamonds, fair trade gemstones, and recycled metals, but sometimes I just feel that I'm scaring my customers with too much information. I’ve read the facts. I know I’m doing my job by educating my staff and buying diamonds that are conflict free. I will give an explanation if my customers request but am I going to go over it this holiday…not unless they ask.
Aren’t we stressed enough with meeting sales goals, having back-up ready if a staff member gets sick, pre-ordering food for everyone in the store the last couple of days, doing our own shopping, dealing with our own family…the list just goes on and on.
Sometimes I forget I’m not the only one having to deal with all the holiday hell. I’ve decided to turn a new leaf…I'm going to use more humor in my sales presentations this year. Sometimes humor is the perfect antidote for hectic times. Below are some funny but true finds.
Forgetful husbands beware!

Cleve Oines, who runs the web site for Goldsmith Gallery, a jewelry shop in the small town of Sitka, Alaska first came up with this as a gag.
- He has some testimonials on his website…one that had me laughing was…Some fans of the Remember Ring™ wear multiple rings. "I got two of 'em." says Jon Harshmen, "Well, I got one-actually-my wife got me the other one." Holding up his hands to show both rings he says, "Anniversary and Birthday, baby. It's like a handgun. Better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it."
