Jewelry Bartering Tips: Marketing on the Cheap

November 14, 2006

Who said bartering was obsolete? Did you realize going to your favorite store or business week after week entitles you to become a little chummy with the owner? Why not ask him/her to barter for jewelry. Present your idea as incentives for them to use with their customers.

My cousin and sister have recently sought out laser hair removal services. My sister thought of something brilliant (mind you, this was her first visit). She decided to ask the owner to barter her treatments for none other than jewelry.

The owner of the place was so excited that she asked if we could break up the lump some of money into gift cards for her reoccurring clients. The gift cards were just the beginning:

  • The gift cards are going to be given as presents for this holiday season.
  • We promoted our store and will benefit from 10 new customers.
  • We also gained insight into those customers favorite place of comfort.
  • Didn’t have to pay her outright (always a plus).
  • Great way to gain new clientele during the dog days of summer.

Without spending our entire marketing fund, we all are trying to find fresh and exciting ways to bring in new customers and a steady flow of traffic. Well, why not increase sales with this kind of cross-promotion.
