JCK—Random Show News Part V
Took the elevator downstairs and walked to the bus entrance of Paris Hotel. We waited for about 15 minutes before we started wondering where the JCK Show Bus was. Thankfully there was a woman –without a sign—so we wouldn’t have known to ask her—but decided to anyway. She told us the bus for Paris was now picking up at Bally’s Hotel. Not a long walk at all but in the last few years I’ve noticed a bunch of bus changes and it’s always a pain the ass to find out where the buses are picking us up. Last year we stayed at Monte Carlo and their was no bus to be found. We finally figured out the closest bus—which I can’t remember now where it picked us up. Am I missing out? Is there a pre-bus schedule online? Unfortunately, our concierge didn’t even know anything about the JCK show—all she kept mentioning was a light show and that there are no buses.
After finally getting on a bus and arriving at the show we entered the basement floor of the show where it was quite busy. I’ve had a few people make very snide comments about the JCK show—ones that are Couture, Luxury, and Premiere attendees of course, but I love the JCK show. This is the place to find one of kind things, hunt for product specific items, specific loose colored stones, or just a neat find. For example, I have a customer who whom wanted a chocolate color pearl set—now I don’t want to invest in a zillion chocolate pearls and JCK was the place I could find one and buy only that one piece.
This must be the place to be because today, I finally saw some movement, sales being written up, and smiles on some of the vendors as well as retailers faces. Many of my vendors were packed. We started with Super Bell Jewelry—a company I use for many of my basics—rd channel set huggie earrings, princess cut, various gauges of rd channel set wedding bands, etc. Price point items. Then onto Titanium for men—we sell a lot of it (cufflinks, bracelets, pendants, etc) and Father’s Day is right around the corner. I put in my replenishment order right before the show but nothing like coming to the show to see all the new stuff. Finally after getting some pictures—which I will post tomorrow we ate lunch in the Hong Kong Pavilion. This time there was lots of seating which made me very pleased. David had Chinese food and I had a Mexican burrito. My burrito was messy as hell but tasty indeed. I did notice the Hong Kong Pavilion was rather busy. We spent the day in the basement—tomorrow to the Prestige Promenade and Plumb Club.
Good luck!

The buses were outside Bally's however I noticed no signs posted
but they were last year when I stayed at Paris. Anyway Paris was a
terrible choice this year it is going down hill. Next year I will
have to stay some place new.
