Me Too!
March 22, 2007
Given that Tacori has now “gotten into bed” with QVC…does this further state the belief in private label, market your name and your store with a quality product line? (I loved the saying “got into bed” stated by Sherrie Lewis that I just had to restate it).
I must say, independent jewelry storeowners are taking the “branding” much more seriously. They understand the minute the customer walks in the door, the box their ring goes in, the bag they leave with, the vibrant colors and beautiful ribbons, a catchy slogan, or that homemade commercial that you just can’t seem ditch, the “branding” begins. You have to think about every little detail that sets you apart from the others.
If it’s our store, our great products, and our unbelievable customer service then why are we putting so much emphasis on these brands? I understand they’ve done the marketing for us…so keep their brand and carry your own house brand at the same time. Brand yourself! It’s hard sometimes to brand your store if you only have one or two locations and no website, instead why not carry a house brand?
Brand yourself! For example if the name of your store is Guliani’s…instead of naming your house brand the name of your store why not come up with an easier name such as your own first name or shortening your stores name (Examples: Scott Kay, Michael B., Diane, etc). Imagine, you’ve now just created your very own new bridal line with matching displays, your brand’s own boxes and ribbon, and have now created brand awareness—best of all it’s your own private label brand.
Private Label Brands have become the rage; that many companies at JCK Las Vegas, are offering to stamp your stores name or any given name in their manufactured rings, bracelets, earrings, etc. One company in particular whose products I find to be very beautiful and will make their line your own house brand is La4ve.
On a side note: One of Tacori’s Reps told me the day their line aired on QVC, jewelry stores that were carrying their brand and selling it on the internet—received more hits on their website then ever before…brand awareness. I understand many jewelers are not in favor of this particular kind of brand awareness but for the purpose of this blog let’s just say—their name became more visible to the public eye.
Any thoughts?
