Is Your Store Listed on Google Maps?
July 17, 2007

Every once in awhile I Google our businesses name to find out who’s talking about us online. This might be something I should’ve done a long time ago—but I guess that’s why there is a learning curve. Anyways—I realized I couldn’t find the store and it wasn’t even popping up when I typed in the store’s name, city, and state.

You can, on most occasions, Google a company’s name and state and find everything about it. I realized our store was not listed with the most popular search engines and I definitely needed to add it. For those of you who aren’t either…Google’s Business Solutions is the first place you need to visit after reading this.

Here’s how to get listed on Google Maps:

  1. Visit Google’s Business Solutions here.
  2. Click on Get Listed on Google Maps here.
  3. At the bottom of the page click on I’m ready to help customers find me here.
  4. Follow the prompts…you’ll be able to add your company’s address, phone number, website address, hours of operation, what you sell, and even photos.

In addition make sure you’re business is listed on other major search engines and online directories, such as Local Yahoo, City Search, City Guide, Local Live and AOL's City Guide.
