Do You Celebrate Your Staff’s Birthdays?
October 26, 2007
Being an independent jeweler I find most spend all day at work and sometime more time with our staff then with our families. We get to know each of them and the ones that stay long are the ones that become a part of the family.
Do you celebrate their birthdays? My father say’s if you celebrate one’s you have to celebrate each person’s. I do agree—picking favorites is not the way to run a store. At mom-dad’s store they don’t buy a cake and sing happy birthday but I feel I want to. My new staff have started this venture with me from the ground up, decided to leave other jobs, customers, and friends to start something new and at the same time have entered into my home and become a part of my family. Doesn’t doing the little thing for them make them feel that they are valued and appreciated?
Do you celebrate your staff member’s birthdays? Does buying a couple of cakes a year really hurt the bottom line?
