Which Lab Do You Use Most Often for Diamond Reports?
September 23, 2008

Indesign’s October 2008 issue received 28 responses regarding…Which lab do you use most often for diamond certification? From those respondents here were the percentages:

I was shocked to see 64% use GIA—well then again there were only 28 respondents. Reason being…the many customers that come into my store don’t even know what a report is. Most just ask if the diamond comes with papers—and when I am trying to sell a GIA graded diamond—which of course is more money than if it were to come with an EGL Israel report—most customer’s don’t clearly understand or are just looking for a specific price. Yes, there are a couple here and there that want a GIA graded stone—but they are few and far between (at least in terms of how many I have come across). Do your customers know the difference between labs? Do they understand these are just reports and not certifications…except for GCAL’s AGA-Cert®

PS—To Indesign—they are reports not diamond certifications except for ones from GCAL and AGA-Cert®
