JCK Wins Again!
September 24, 2007
Last night, I had the pleasure of attending The 2007 Eddie and Ozzie Awards hosted by Folio magazine. For those unfamiliar with these awards, Folio is the trade journal of the publishing industry, and every year it recognizes outstanding editorial (Eddie) and design (Ozzie) efforts in magazine publishing. Colleagues Carrie Soucy, Rob Bates, Todd Gast, and I attended, and we brought with us high hopes of winning. We were not disappointed. Here’s the JCK scorecard for last night:
* Gold Eddie, Business to Business Retail, Single Article, “Whatever Became of Sierra Leone?” JCK, October 2006, author Rob Bates
* Silver Eddie, Business to Business Retail, Full Issue, JCK Luxury, Winter 2007
* Silver Ozzie, Business to Business under 100,000 circulation, Best Feature Design, “Design Through the Decades,” JCK Luxury, Summer 2006
Congrats to Carrie Soucy, JCK Luxury’s editor, for her consistently thorough and skillful editorial vision and planning, and to Hedda Schupak, for her noble guidance and expertise as editorial director of JCK. And to the direct award recipients, well done! Rob is a gifted writer, and this award-winning article, like most everything he crafts, is certainly deserving of praise. Meanwhile, Todd’s design skills are simply remarkable, and he continues to wow us every month with his creativity and resourcefulness.
At last year’s awards ceremony, JCK art director, Todd Gast, took home a Gold Ozzie for typography.
Editor's Note: Only winners of Gold awards journeyed to the stage to pick up trophies, thus all the pictures of Rob, and few of Todd and Carrie.

I didn't snap a photo quickly enough of Rob getting his award, but there he is after he got it and was leaving the stage.

Rob with his award, apparently fearful that someone would snatch it from him.

Art director extraordinaire, Todd Gast, and Rob.
