Tucson Countdown #10
January 5, 2008
If it's January, we must be getting ready for Tucson. And like many of you, we'll be in Tucson for several days. But with so much to cover, no matter how long we are there, it's just never long enough. This means that every day is important. All the more reason to make certain we stay healthy. Nothing worse than being stuck in a Tucson hotel room with a bad cold or the flu - been there, done that. So our advice, start taking your Zinc and Vitamin C now. Of course you've already gotten your flu shot, yes?
Three States have now been ranked as having "regional outbreaks" of the Flu: Texas, Colorado, and … of course… Arizona. And just in time for our annual pilgrimage to the Tucson gem shows.
As defined by the weather channel, Regional Outbreaks means confirmed influenza in geographic areas containing less than 50% of the state's population. This is second only to what is called "Widespread." This is confirmed influenza occurring in geographic areas representing more than 50% of the state's population.
So, my advice, before you get on the plane, buy a tube of Airborne and take one before you board. Take with you a small pocket sized tube of Purell hand sanitizer (3 oz. or less). Then, once you arrive in Tucson, before you check in to the hotel, stop off at the local grocery store and pick up a can of Lysol disinfectant spray. Spray the inside of your rental car, door knobs in your hotel room, the TV remote control, the telephone, and anything else you'll be handling. And take an Airborne every night whether you need it or not. Washing your hands often is always the rule. And drink plenty of water. After all, it's the desert.
Stay healthy and have a great Tucson!
